It is easy to reach the mezzanine by accident, but worth visiting deliberately. The upper level is calmer than the main aisle, brings you closer to the arches and gathers traders where shopping often becomes a longer conversation.
Take the stairs from Piaskowa Street
This staircase gives the best first view through the building. Pause halfway and look towards the main nave: from above, the structure clearly organises movement between the stalls.
Lift users can begin at the opposite end. The route is short and level, with several good viewing points along the balustrade.
Coffee upstairs, honey downstairs
Ziarno nad Odrą at stall 141 serves espresso and filter coffee. Continue to Bolesławiec Pottery at stall 164, then return downstairs for honey from Bartnik Apiary at stall 17.
Weekdays between 10 am and noon are quietest. Saturday feels more urban: visitors pause with coffee and traders put out more seasonal discoveries.
Look at the hall as a working machine
From the mezzanine you can see where the arches meet their supports and how the narrow ceiling ribs span the hall. The grand interior grew from a practical goal: a broad trading floor without a forest of columns.
Finish by descending on the Oder side. The loop leads directly to bread and dairy stalls. It is the end of the walk and the natural start of shopping.
